ANTI-KEYSTONE® II PUMP PACKING TECHNOLOGY- The Braided Labyrinth SealSM

ANTI-KEYSTONE® II PUMP PACKING is the evolution of the revolutionary ANTI-KEYSTONE® I Pump Packings and features six-sided packing technology. Essentially a "Rectangle over a Trapezoid", ANTI-KEYSTONE® II Pump Packing retains this shape when wrapped around a shaft, providing improved side-to-side contact between adjacent rings upon installation as well as significant additional benefits.

    Typical Installation

Independent tests show that ANTI-KEYSTONE® II PUMP PACKING provides:
    • 80% reduction in packing drag at 45 psi pressure drop
    • Lower energy costs, cooler running
    • Reduced water consumption compared to conventionally braided pump packings
    • Significantly extended shaft sleeve service life
    • Resistance to spinning in the stuffing box at start-up
    • Improved performance over conventional and AK-I pump packings
    • Braided Labyrinth Seal-like operation!
Unique, patented, value-added pump packing, available only through authorized New England Braiding (NEBCO) distributors worldwide.

ANTI-KEYSTONE®II Pump Packing Die-Molded Ring Sets

All New England Braiding pump packing styles can be die-molded into pre-packaged ring sets.

    Benefits:
    • Eliminate Waste: Die molded ring sets eliminate waste created when rings are miss-cut on-site. Die molded ring sets have exactly enough material to pack the equipment.
    • Speed of Installation: Prepared ring sets reduce repacking time by eliminating the cutting time of bulk packing. Die molded ring sets slide into the stuffing box with ease and seat reliably.
    • Reduce Misapplication: Errors from the use of the wrong packing in the wrong pump are reduced.
    • Reduction of Inventory: Inventories are minimized through use of a common stores code covering many pieces of equipment with identical stuffing boxes and similar services.
    • Costs Tracking: Die molded ring sets become a spare part for the equipment, improving the ability to track equipment operating cost.

Style 7800 AKII Exfoliated Graphite Pump Packing

New England Braiding’s Style 7800 AKII is one packing that is nearly universal. The packing is manufactured from flexible graphite with continuous filament carbon yarn used in the corners for extrusion resistance when clearances are excessive.

Style 7800 AKII is applicable for use in most services including steam, acids, bases, oils, solvents and water-based solutions that are not strong oxidizers. (such as aqua regia, oleum, or red fuming nitric acid)

    Style 274 AKII HYDROPACKING™

New England Braiding’s Style 274 AKII HYDROPACKING™ is an advanced general service pump packing for most industries, incorporating expanded TFE/graphite as the primary sealing yarn with two diagonally braided anti-extrusion corners of meta-aramid yarn.

Services include acids, bases, gasses, oils, black, green, red and white pulping liquors and other water based fluids. Not suitable for strong oxidizers, free halides, and molten alkali metals.

Style 702 AKII Graphite Ribbon Pump Packing

New England Braiding’s Style 702 AKII is braided from a filament graphite ribbon form yarn lubricated with a small amount of PTFE and graphite. Style 702 AKII provides a "flat footprint" of packing on the shaft thus lowering the required gland load even more.

Style 702 AKII is applicable in the most severe corrosive mediums as well as acids, bases, solvents, and abrasive slurries. Not recommended for strong oxidizers or in solutions containing free halides.

Style 274SC AKII Vibradamp™ Pump Packing

New England Braiding Co.’s Style 274SC AKII is manufactured from the same yarns as their Style 274 AKII with strategically placed silicone (SC) cores. The resilient elastomeric cores in concert with their ANTI-KEYSTONE® II design reduce the leakage and gland adjustments where shafts on agitators, hydroturbines, and other equipment are out-of-round, vibrate, or subject to impact.

Style 106 AKII Meta-Aramid Fiber Pump Packing

New England Braiding’s Style 106 AKII is manufactured from one of the strongest yarns avalible, texturized continuous filiment meta-aramid, impregnated with PTFE and treated with a break-in lubricant.

Style 106 AKII is the optimal choice for abrasive services especially in the mining industry. White non-staining Style 106 AKII may also be used in water based solutions, oils, solvents, refined products, and crudes in the petroleum industry.

Accro-Seal® PLE (Packing Life Extender) Pump Sealing System

The Accro-Seal® PLE Sealing System has been perfected through years of refinements in pumps, air-locks, agitators, refiners, pulpers, blenders, and many other stuffing box applications. Their non-metallic material selections allow total compatibility in the paper, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and petroleum industries.

The Accro-Seal® PLE Sealing System promises cost and performance benefits in extending the life of sealing materials on rotating shafts of pumps and other equipment. Designed to work in a standard stuffing box, the system uses four rings fabricated from Accrolon® 1505/1640 and an injectable packing compound containing solid lubricants or standard braided packing.

Benefits of Accro-Seal® PLE (Packing Life Extender) Pump Sealing System:
    • Eliminate Flush Water
    • Dramatically Increase Seal Life
    • Better Leakage Control thus Reducing Pollution
    • Reduce Downtime
    • Reduced Shaft Damage due to Overtightening of the Seal Glands
    • Ease of Installation and Use
    • Less Product Contamination
    How it Works:
The patented design of the Accro-Seal® PLE Seal Set utilizes two conical wedges to simultaneously seal the Shaft Compression Ring to the shaft and expand the Bore Expansion Ring to the bore. This effectively cuts off leak paths. The Accropac Injectable Sealant accommodates any size shaft and bore by its self-centering characteristics. Accropac can be injected while the shaft is turning. Accrolon® materials offer excellent wear life, low friction and tight seal edges. Low friction means less heat to build up, less shaft damage and no need for flushing.
